Appointment Lists
Appointment, ASAP, Pinboard, and Unscheduled lists are combined into one customizable and searchable list to simplify finding and scheduling appointments. Pinboard, change the status, or break appointments in bulk.
Month End and Task Scheduler
Note: Additional improvements to the Task Scheduler and Month End process were introduced in the June 2021 release.
The Month End Wizard is now the Reports and Tasks Scheduler. You are no longer required to close Dentrix on all computers to do your month end tasks! The Task Scheduler allows you to set up reports or tasks to run on a schedule on a Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly interval. It has all the tasks and reports from the Month End Wizard and many more.
Health History Updates
Note: Additional improvements to Health History were introduced in the next release.
Add an Emergency Contact, a Physician Contact, and a Preferred Pharmacy to each patient’s Health History.
View patient medications prescribed by your office through the Dentrix Prescriptions module. Plus, see medications prescribed by other doctors (as reported by the patient).
Stay aware with Health History pop-ups that replace Patient Alerts for health-related notifications.
Quickly locate the health info you need by searching and viewing past patient questionnaire forms within the Health History module.
Print a patient’s health history with the new Health History Report.
Dentrix Smart Image
Note: Additional improvements were introduced to Dentrix Smart Image in the April 2019 release.
Dentrix Smart Image integrates with a wide range of third-party imaging software solutions, allowing you to initiate planned imaging without leaving the Dentrix Graphic Chart. Icons above and below each tooth show the types of completed images associated with that tooth. Select from onscreen thumbnails to see all available images for the patient and the date of each image.

Practice Advisor Improvements
Treatment Plan Case Acceptance Totals and Amount of Treatment Accepted & Diagnosed have been modified to more accurately depict the state of each of these key performance indicators.
You can now select only Dentists or only Hygienists to limit what you are reviewing to that specific group.
Appointment Book Production
Added an option to calculate production amounts based off of an adjusted total so you can see how you’re tracking against insurance write-offs, refunds, etc.
Questionnaires Changes
View and fill out questionnaires without excessive paging. With a cleaner design and layout, Questionnaires allows more space for form questions.
Easily reconcile your patient’s information from a questionnaire with their Family File information using side-by-side features.
Build your Health History questions using the “Yes/No” question type or with traditional checkboxes. Use the new “Medications” question to capture all medications the patient is currently taking. Enjoy your time savings because the Health History and Medication questions are easily imported into the patient’s Health History.
Lists have been updated to quickly see what needs to be filled out or updated. You can now add existing insurance subscribers when updating insurance subscribers from a questionnaire form.
Database Enhancements
Ability to specify and alter the passphrase used by Dentrix to connect to its Faircom database.
Ability to run Dentrix as a standard Windows user.
Prescriptions Module
Navigate the prescriptions module easier with a completely new look and feel.
ePrescribe Prescriptions Automatically Write Back to Dentrix
Eliminate manual entry of electronic prescription information into Dentrix.
Payment Agreement Manager
A Payment Agreement Manager was created to show all the Payment Agreements. It allows for filtering, payment entry without having to go through the Ledger, and many sort options. In the Payment Agreements, the Payment Agreement Notes have been upgraded so that they are easier to navigate and edit.
Credit Card Payment Type on Insurance Claims
Credit cards can now be selected as a payment type when entering an insurance payment. The batch insurance feature also has this added ability. The Day Sheet, deposit slips, and Practice Analysis Payment Summary will show that a credit card was used for insurance payments.
Password Security
Improve security by requiring complex passwords (eight or more characters requiring uppercase, lowercase, numeric, and special characters (e.g. #@$*); OR more than 12 characters.) Require passwords to be reset every 90, 180, or 365 days, plus force immediate system-wide password resets anytime as needed. Allow users to easily reset their forgotten passwords by answering security questions.
Time Clock Enhancement
Calculate overtime by both hours in a day and hours in a week for the same employee.
Product Upgrade History
Quickly identify what Dentrix updates you have installed by viewing the information using a new feature in the Update Manager.
Miscellaneous Enhancements
- F5 key can be used for Refresh in all modules.
- The Edit or Delete Procedure dialog will always allow the Override Dental Ins Estimate information to be updated/edited.
- Added option to suspend checking for updates.
